Volkswagen prices 2015 Eos Final Edition

A direct successor for the Eos is not in the works.

Volkswagen is sending off the Eos convertible with a limited-edition model appropriately called Final Edition. Set to replace the mid-range Sport trim level, the 2015 Final Edition will carry a base price of $39,165.

The Final Edition model features 18-inch Vicenza wheels, model-specific Cornsilk Beige and black two-tone leather upholstery, contrast stitching, silver trim on the dashboard and on the door panels, a rear-view camera, bi-xenon headlights, a panoramic sunroof and rain-sensing wipers.

Other standard features carried over from the Eos Sport include Bluetooth audio streaming, dual-zone A/C, 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, a five-inch touch screen-based infotainment system with navigation and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The Eos Final Edition is exclusively offered with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI engine that generates 200 horsepower at 5,100 rpms and 207 lb-ft. of torque at just 1,700 rpms. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission, allowing the Eos to reach 60 mph from a stop in a respectable 7.3 seconds.

What's Next?
Although it offers a practical folding hard top with a built-in sunroof, the Eos was not a strong seller for Volkswagen and company sources have previously indicated a second-generation model is not in the works.

However, Volkswagen has not ruled out adding the upcoming convertible variants of the seventh-gen Golf and GTI to its U.S. lineup. Both cars are expected to eschew the Eos' folding hard top in favor of more conventional cloth soft top.
