Subaru has released a new video highlighting the of its 2018 WRX STI Type RA NBR Special around Germany's Nurburgring.
Last month Subaru set a new Nurturing lap record for a sedan when its 2018 WRX STI Type RA NBR Special got around the track in just 6 minutes and 57.5 seconds. For those keeping track, that's just a half-second slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder, which currently holds the Nurburgring lap record for a production vehicle.
The WRX STI Type RA NBR Special, however, is far from a production vehicle. Although based on the road-going WRX STI Type RA, the NBR Special was heavily modified by Subaru racing partner Prodrive. Enhancements include a 600 horsepower engine, 9-inch racing tires, WRC gearbox and an advanced active aero system.
Subaru will launch the in the United States for the 2018 model year. That vehicle won't have 600 horsepower, but it will have a carbon fiber roof panel, carbon fiber rear wing and lightweight 19-inch BBS alloy wheels.
