Nissan discontinues 370Z Roadster for 2020 by Drew Johnson
The drop-top Z is dead.
The future of Nissan's 370Z remains up in the air, but the fate of one of the sport car's models has been sealed. Nissan confirmed on Wednesday that it is killing off the 370Z Roadster for the 2020 model year.
The news was confirmed to by Nissan spokesman Kyle Torrens. In a statement, Torrens said Nissan "will not offer the Roadster variant for the current-generation Z beginning with model year 2020.”
That leaves just the 370Z coupe for the 2020 model year. However, even its future is not guaranteed beyond the 2020 model year. Nissan's sixth-generation Z-car launched a decade ago and hasn't seen any significant updates since. The 370Z still sells in decent numbers, but the writing is clearly on the wall for the aging sports car.
Nissan says the Z-car is "very important” to the brand, but the company has stopped short of confirming a next-generation of the sports car.
