LA LIVE: Nip-and-tucked 2018 Infiniti QX80by Ronan Glon
Infiniti\'s biggest model now falls in line with its smaller siblings.
Infiniti chose the Dubai Auto Show to introduce the updated 2018 QX80. The choice of venue underlines the nameplate's popularity in the Middle East. The SUV has just arrived on American soil.
Infiniti's biggest model now falls in line with its smaller siblings. The changes up front include a grille that's taller and wider, sharper-looking headlights, and a piece of chrome trim on the lower bumper that emphasize's the SUV's width. The back end also gets new lights and revised trim elements. The QX80 isn't brand-new for 2018, but it certainly looks fresher than the outgoing 2017 model.
The changes inside the cabin are more subtle and largely limited to new stitching patterns on the seats and on the door panels additional upholstery colors. Infiniti's press release includes no information about tech or driving aids, so we're tentatively concluding nothing has changed in either of those areas. Of course, the company could prove us wrong when it publishes additional details.
There are no major mechanical modifications to report, either. The QX80 carries on with a 5.6-liter V8 engine that pumps out 400 horsepower. A seven-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive come standard, while all-wheel drive is offered at an extra cost.
The 2018 QX80 will arrive in showrooms shortly. Pricing starts at $64,750 for the two-wheel drive model and $67,850 for the four-wheel drive version.
