Mitsubishi teases Outlander plug-in concept for Paris unveilingby Justin King
Sketch could preview US-bound model.
Mitsubishi has released several teaser images for its next-generation Outlander plug-in hybrid.
The sketches detail the Outlander PHEV 'Concept-S' concept, which has been proposed as a special package for the production model. It brings a much more aggressive styling than the current crossover, with a front fascia that appears to take inspiration from the XR-PHEV virtual supercar concept in Gran Turismo 6.
The automaker has been cautions as it prepares to launch an Outlander plug-in hybrid in the US market. An executive recently confirmed the US-bound edition will be entirely different than the current build, suggesting it will be the next-generation PHEV crossover.
The Concept-S centers around a "sporty and sophisticated" theme, promising to deliver spirited 4x4 performance and "superior on-road performance" thanks to dual electric motors.
The concept will be unveiled in physical form this fall at the Paris show.
