Lotus shows off special chrome edition Evora GTE by Swizz Beatzby Mark Kleis
Although the Evora GTE itself is nothing new, seeing this road-going racecar in a chrome finish was just too good to pass up and not share.
The Lotus Evora GTE, first officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, is essentially a road-going version of the Evora GTE cup car - meaning it is one serious driving machine.
But like most sportscars these days, sometimes the list of requirements to get proper street cred goes beyond handling and performance, dipping into the "wow factor," something handled in spades thanks to a chrome finish on this Evora GTE.
This particular GTE, a collaboration of New Lotus Designs and Swizz Beatz, was held at Alvin Ailey's Opening Night Gala, along with John Legend and Alicia Keys. The car was part of a new partnership that will see rapper/producer Swizz Beatz developing unique Lotus models that will eventually be available for purchase.
As for the details of the car, it pumps out 444 horsepower from its 3.5-liter V6, making it the most powerful road-going Lotus offered to date. Transmission duties are handled by an AMT, or Automated Manual Transmission, along with lightweight forged alloy wheels with center-locking hubs and Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires.
Carbon fiber can be found throughout, which not only adds a nice cosmetic touch, but is said to help shed some 231 lbs.
