Jeep unveils Cherokee with 4.7-liter "Stroker" inline-sixby Andrew Ganz
Jeep's venerable 4.0-liter inline-six has been out of production since 2006, but that isn't stopping the Michigan automaker from introducing a high-performance "Stroker" 4.7-liter available through the company's Mopar division.
Shown under the hood of a highly-modified Jeep Cherokee at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Stroker puts out 265 horsepower and 290 lb-ft. of torque. Mopar says it will be able to fit under the hood of any Jeep which previously held the factory 4.0-liter inline-six, including first- and second-generation Grand Cherokees, Cherokees and Wranglers.
The Cherokee at the show featured a Rubicon Express 5.5-inch long-arm suspension lift, 37-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires, Safari Doors, Rock Rails and unique off-road-style bumpers.
