Hyundai introduces Kona Iron Man Editionby Drew Johnson
The super hero-themed Kona was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Hyundai has unveiled an Iron Man-themed version of its all-new Kona crossover. Appropriately, Hyundai introduced the Kona Iron Man Edition at the opening of the San Diego Comic-Con.
Although based on the standard Kona, there is plenty to separate the Kona Iron Man Edition from the pack. The most obvious deviation from standard is a matte gray and Iron Man red paint job. Hyundai even included an Iron Man mask motif on the vehicle's roof.
Another signature element of the limited edition Kona is custom daytime running lights designed to look like the eyes of the Iron Man mask. The front of the Kona also features Iron Man mask fender badges, dark chrome grille and a unique V-shaped hood garnish.
Other unique touches include Stark Industries lower fascia and rear door decals, 18-inch wheels with Iron Man mask center caps and Iron Man engravings for the D-pillars. Inside the special edition Kona features a Tony Stark signature on the instrument panel, Iron Man shift lever, a custom seat design and a special Head's Up Display and center stack featuring Iron Man visual graphics.
"Hyundai is excited to work with Marvel on the Kona Iron Man Edition; it really is the perfect mash up,” said Dean Evans, chief marketing officer, Hyundai Motor America. "The first time we saw the Kona, we knew its unique, rugged design drew a compelling resemblance to the strong and iconic Iron Man suit. There is also a nice synergy between the fun and adventurous nature of the Kona and the playful yet bold character of Iron Man/Tony Stark. The outcome is a remarkable special edition that we're sure will appeal to Marvel fans and SUV enthusiasts alike.”
Hyundai has not announced pricing for the Kona Iron Man Edition, but the company says it will go on sale during the first quarter of 2019. If you're interested in buying a Kona Iron Man Edition, you better hurry down to your local Hyundai dealer to place an order — the automaker says the "Kona Iron Man Edition will be available to customers via a limited global production run.”
