Paris preview: Ferrari GTC4Lusso T
Ferrari is debuting a new version of its GTC4Lusso with a turbo V8 and rear-wheel drive
Ferrari is expanding its lineup with a new GTC4Lusso T model. The newest Ferrari will make its debut later this month at the Paris Motor Show.
As its name implies, the GTC4Lusso T is largely based on the recently unveiled GTC4Lusso, which replaced the FF within the Ferrari lineup. However, that 'T' signifies a major departure for the GTC4Lusso — instead of a 6.3L naturally-aspirated V12, the GTC4Lusso employs a turbocharged 3.9L V8.
The same basic mill used in the 488 GTB and California T, the turbocharged V8 beneath the long hood of the GTC4Lusso T makes 610 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. That new engine makes the GTC4Lusso T the first four-seater Ferrari to use a turbocharged V8.
And despite the ‘4' in the middle of its name, which signifies all-wheel drive in the regular GTC4Lusso, the GTC4Lusso T is actually rear-wheel drive only. The removal of the front-drive components has shifted the Lusso's weight rearward, with the T model sporting a 46/54 weight balance. The GT4Lusso T does, however, retain Ferrari's four-wheel steering system.
With 110 few pounds to carry around, the GTC4Lusso T can keep up with its four-wheel drive sibling in a drag racing, requiring 3.5 seconds to hit 60 versus the GTC4Lusso's time of 3.4 seconds. The T model doesn't quite have the long legs of the V12-powered car, with a top end of 199mph compared to 208mph for the GTC4Lusso.
The Ferrari GTC4Lusson T should go on sale shortly after its world debut at the Paris Motor Show.
