LA LIVE: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible
The new convertible is the first drop-top ZR1 since the badge first appeared for the 1970 model year.
General Motors has introduced the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 convertible, making an appropriate first appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The 2019 convertible is said to be the first ZR1 droptop since the ZR1 badge first appeared for the 1970 model year.
Technology and performance upgrades carry over from the ZR1 coupe, with a weight penalty of fewer than 60 pounds for the folding top components.
Both the coupe and convertible share an LT5 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque, delivered via a seven-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission.
Preliminary tests point to a zero-to-60 mph sprint in less than three seconds, a quarter mile in the high 10-second range and a top speed of 212 mph.
The convertible will start at $123,995, representing a $4,000 premium over the coupe.
