Cadillac planning to keep CT6 in US market?

GM still plans to shutter the CT6's current US production plant but may import the sedan from China.

The Cadillac CT6's US factory will soon cease production, but the luxury sedan may not be exiting the American market as expected.

General Motors president Mark Reuss and Cadillac president Steve Carlisle say the CT6 may continue to be sold in the US after June 1 when it will no longer roll off the assembly line at the company's Detroit-Hamtramck plant, according to Automotive News.

"We're working hard to find other alternatives to that," Carlisle said. "We have some time."

Options are said to include moving the CT6 to another US factory or simply importing it from China. Carlisle admitted the latter scenario represents the "least-preferred option," however.

Despite the suggestion that the CT6 could be built at another US factory, China may appear to be the most likely option. GM has already tested the waters with the Buick Envision, currently made in China and imported to US showrooms.
