2017 Cadillac ATS-V+ to get 7.0-liter V8 engine?by Ronan Glon
The ATS-V+ will pack a lot of Corvette parts.
Cadillac is believed to be developing a more extreme version of the -fighting , and recent rumors give us a good idea of what we can expect when it's unveiled.
Offered as both a sedan and a coupe, the ATS-V+ will pack a serious punch thanks to a naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine borrowed from the and the last-gen Corvette Z06. In the 'Vette, the eight-cylinder made 505 horsepower and 481 lb-ft. of torque. Cadillac could drop it in the ATS' engine bay as-is, or it could tweak it in order to squeeze every last drop of power out of it.
At launch, buyers will be asked to choose between an eight-speed automatic gearbox controlled by shift paddles and a seven-speed manual transmission pulled directly from the Corvette parts bin. Motor Trend a dual-clutch unit will join the lineup later in the production run.
Comprehensive brake and suspension upgrades will keep the extra power in check, and the + will stand out from the stock ATS-V thanks to a more muscular-looking body kit.
If the rumors turn out to be true, the Cadillac ATS-V+ will most likely be unveiled either this fall at the Los Angeles Motor Show or next January at the Detroit Motor Show. It will go on sale across the nation in about a year as a 2017 model.
