BMW M3 CS fails to beat Alfa Romeo Giulia QV's Nurburgring lapby Justin King
The limited-edition M3 apparently recorded a best lap of 7 minutes, 38 seconds -- only slightly behind the Alfa and on par with the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
BMW has quietly posted a Nürburgring time for the new , the most powerful standard production M3 of all time.
"Equipped with numerous carbon lightweight components and innovative M technologies, the extreme athlete achieves an impressive best time of 7 minutes and 38 seconds on the legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring," the company says on its website.
The benchmark is not good enough to beat Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' claimed with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, though it does match the Porsche Panamera Turbo's .
The lightweight CS is powered by turbocharged straight-six with 460 horsepower, providing enough oomph to launch the sedan to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
BMW only plans to build 1,200 examples, less than half of which will be heading to US showrooms.
