Bentley adds exclusivity for its 100th birthdayby Ronan Glon
2019 models will wear special badges and offer exclusive colors.
Bentley is celebrating its 100th birthday in style. Every car it makes between January and December 2019 will wear special badges and offer exclusive colors inside and out.
Centenary Specification cars will wear special Centenary badges with gold accents and the dates of the anniversary: 1919 and 2019. The Centenary badge will appear on both ends of every Bentley model, from the new, second-generation Continental GT to the Mulsanne flagship.
Inspired by the firm's classic cars, the gold -- which is called, appropriately, Centenary Gold -- will also appear on the wheels' center caps, on the key fob, and on the gear selector. It will also add a touch of contrast to the interior. The application will likely vary from car to car but examples include gold contrast stitching on the dashboard and a gold-embroidered Bentley emblem on the headrests. Sill plates with the anniversary dates will round out the Centenary treatment.
Bentley hasn't revealed whether Centenary Specification cars will cost more than the standard models they're based on, though it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume so. And, of course, buyers who would rather not get gold accents will be able to order a non-Centenary model by either selecting another appearance package or working with the firm's Mulliner division to create one from scratch.
We'll hear more about Bentley's birthday bash as we approach the 2019 calendar year.
