Spied: 2019 Audi A7 takes shapeby Drew Johnson
Audi\'s new A7 is nearly ready for its global debut.
Audi's next-generation A7 hatchback has been spotted undergoing shakedown testing in Europe. The new A7 is expected to be introduced this year as a 2019 model.
Today's testing went far better than the last time we saw the A7 out for a shakedown run. In June a prototype for the new A7 during hill testing in the Alps.
Without fire obstructing our view, we can see that the new will retain the same general shape that made the current car such a hit. However, other details will be refined, such as a new front fascia with an updated version of Audi's single-frame grille. In the back, the A7 will receive a new taillight treatment that includes a connecting LED strip.
Inside you can look for the A7 to follow the basic design laid out by other modern Audis, including the company's digital cockpit display.
Powertrains for the new A7 range shouldn't vary dramatically from today's offerings, but we've heard rumblings that Audi might introduce a hydrogen fuel-cell version. That model might not launch for a few years, however.
Audi hasn't announced where we'll first lay eyes on the 2019 A7, but the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is a distinct possibility.
