Goodwood LIVE: Aston Martin DB9 GTby Justin King
The GT is the most powerful DB9 to date, with 30 extra horsepower compared to the standard model.
Aston Martin has revealed the DB9 GT, the most powerful production yet, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Billed as the best of what the DB9 can be, the GT package features a retuned version of the company's 5.9-liter V12 engine. Output has been bumped up to 540 horsepower, up 30 ponies from the standard model, while torque remains unchanged at 457 lb-ft.
The company has also upgraded the interior, borrowing the AMi II touchscreen infotainment system from the Vanquish. The implementation in the DB9 is said to offer improved text-messaging, vehicle status information and additional personalization themes.
The grand tourer is visually distinguished by a black painted splitter and diffuser, revised head- and tail-light treatments, ten-spoke alloy wheels and unique brake-caliper colors.
Buyers can choose from a wide range of additional customizations, including various center-console finishes, leather options, door inserts and head linings, among other elements.
"The purity of form and proportion, together with a lithe powerful, stance, remain at the core of what the DB9 is to look at," said Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman. "With these changes, we have made the DB9 GT yet more stylish, while retaining its unmistakable and globally renowned identity."
Buyers can pre-order a DB9 GT today, with pricing set at $199,950 in the US market.
