Agent: Schumacher showing moments of consciousness and awakeningby Drew Johnson
Michael Schumacher is finally showing signs of improvements following a December skiing accident.
Michael Schumacher's agent revealed on Friday that the Formula One legend has shown "moments of consciousness and awakening” in recent days. Schumacher has been in a medically induced coma since hitting his head during a skiing accident last December.
Doctors from his coma in January, but the process has been slow going. However, Schumacher's condition appears to be finally improving.
"Michael is making progress on his way. He shows moments of consciousness and awakening,” Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's manager, the UK's Telegraph. "We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble, and we keep remaining confident.”
Kehm didn't elaborate on Schumacher's condition, but Gary Hartstein, a former Formula One doctor, told the Telegraph that Kehm's description of events indicates that the racing legend has opened his eyes and interacted with the environment around him, such as smiling at a nearby family member.
Despite the apparently good news, Schumacher isn't out of the woods yet and will remain in the hospital for the foreseeable future.
