The problem at hand is a car battery monitor that has reportedly caught on fire in 4 cars to date worldwide, Once again, as with the Takata airbag debacle, the culprit here is moisture and heat intrusion due to the (possible) improper weather sealing of the battery system component, more likely than not manufactured by an independent parts supplier. Torque News has a call into Honda’s Chris Martin, but suspects that confirmation of the Accord recall will come to us Monday morning. Undoubtedly, when your specific vin # is entered into Honda’s recall center and confirmed as included in this recall action, your Accord will be repaired at no cost -- this should be a relatively quick fix once Honda ramps up the required component supply line. .
